Recap 11/17/24 project meetings

Yesterday's three critical project meetings highlighted the significance of student/parent engagement, and I encourage everyone to diligently strive towards the established objectives.

In the session focused on sickle cell, 9 students were present as we reviewed the 2024 project, outlined plans for the 2025 project which involves learning Python programming and creating AI/ML algorithms. We also delved into potential publishing opportunities and assigned students to review the respective journal guidelines. Our primary objectives involve utilizing machine learning models for sickle cell disease diagnosis and AI models for predicting sickle cell pain crises using biometric variables. We are in need of a parent volunteer to support our mentors, and this year we have two student teachers. All presentations will be uploaded on Google Drive for easy access to materials.

Regarding VR in pain management, six students are engaged in building the design and subsequent website. The team discussed the tools required for managing application development and tracking tasks using agile methodology.

For the Gene Therapy & AI project, after completing extensive research studies in the initial phase, the team has narrowed down to two key focus areas to advance the research. The objective is to thoroughly explore companies and their AI initiatives in these areas and develop apps to showcase the research findings.
